New Study Finds ACPHS Is Top School for ROI 20, 30, 40 Years After Graduation

Friday, Nov. 15, 2019 -- Results from a recent Georgetown University study placed Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) as the #1 school out of 4,500 nationwide for return on investment 20, 30 and 40 years after enrollment.

The study, conducted by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce in Washington, D.C. and titled, “A First Try at ROI: Ranking 4,500 Colleges,” aimed to determine what schools and, more specifically, which types of schools, lead to the highest earnings down the line.

“ACPHS is proud of its long tradition of educating leaders in pharmacy and the health sciences,” said ACPHS President Dr. Greg. Dewey. “We provide a student experience that makes our students `practice ready’ and allows them to advance quickly in their careers. Leading the list of Colleges that provide the greatest return on investment is a true affirmation of the quality and versatility of our degree programs.”

Although the report’s authors expected elite universities to yield the better results, survey results revealed that occupational schools like ACPHS, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, Maine Maritime Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy gave the biggest return on investment after four decades.

Degrees from ACPHS, which topped the list of all schools in terms of both short- and long-term returns, are worth $2.7 million over 40 years. This is due to the fact that pharmacists earn an entry-level salary of $106,000.

The report, which was released last Thursday, was compiled using data from the expanded College Scorecard, an online tool created by the U.S. government in 2015 from 4,500 colleges, including traditional two-year and four-year public and private colleges, as well as for-profit colleges and training academies.
