City of Troy, N.Y. Invites Cities/Towns of Troy Across USA to Take Part in Virtual Edition of 2020 Troy Turkey Trot

Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 --  There may be considerably more people who register Troy as their hometown taking part in the virtual 73rd edition of the Troy Turkey Trot set for Nov. 26-28.

Organizers of the Trot — one of the nation’s oldest and largest Turkey Trots — today announced they have sent an invitation from Mayor Patrick Madden to the mayors of nine U.S. Troy cities (Alabama, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas) extending a personal invitation to them and members of their communities to participate in Troy, N.Y.’s signature Thanksgiving Day event. Leaders of five towns of Troy located in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont and Wisconsin were also sent an invitation.

“One of the toughest things about the COVID-19 pandemic is the manner in which it has separated friends and families,” said Troy Mayor Patrick Madden. “The goal of this outreach initiative is to bring people together over the Thanksgiving holiday. With our event going virtual in 2020, we felt there was no better opportunity to connect with other Troy communities than to invite them to join our virtual event, which celebrates family, fun and fitness.

“Earlier this year, Troy, N.Y. forged a connection with Troy, Kan. after we sent a thank you package to a Kansas farmer who generously donated an N95 mask to Gov. Andrew Cuomo during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in New York,” continued Madden. “We’re hoping to continue that connection with Troy, Kan., as well as other cities and towns that share our name.”
