GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (July 12, 2017) — Town of Guilderland Chief of Police Carol J. Lawlor accepts a $1,000 check from officials at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Guilderland for the department’s annual National Night Out event. Set for Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 6-9 p.m. at Tawasentha Park, the nationwide event aims to encourage members of the community to meet their neighbors in an effort to reduce crime. The Guilderland Police Department, which has hosted Guilderland's National Night Out since 2009, plans to use the funds will help pay for the evening’s musical entertainment, The Refrigerators. More than 4,000 are expected to attend the event, which will feature displays by emergency medical service agencies, local fire departments and neighboring police agencies. Community groups, children’s activities, and music and vendors will also be on hand. (June 27, 2017) — Ten Capital Region companies and groups are driving the American Diabetes Association (ADA) one step closer to attaining its $1.1 million fundraising goal through the recent Saratoga Springs Tour de Cure cycling event, the premier cycling event in the Capital Region dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes.

(June 22, 2017) – Members of the New York State Assembly and Senate have unanimously passed legislation in each house (A7922 and S6689) requiring Medicaid managed care providers who provide coverage for prescription drugs to include not-for-profit pharmacies operated by institutions of higher education in the provider's pharmacy network.

ALBANY, N.Y. (June 3, 2017) — The 39th running of the Freihofer's Run for Women 5K, held on the streets of New York’s capital city this morning, featured 3,268 runners, overcast skies and a blazingly fast finish from Sara Hall, 34, from Redding, Calif. Hall came into the race as a marginal second favorite to Aliphine Tuliamuk, 28, originally from Kenya, but these days a U.S. citizen residing in Santa Fe, N.M. After 3.1 miles of racing that was, by turns, aggressive and tactical, Hall proved to be the woman with the wheels, blasting past Tuliamuk with just 25 meters remaining, crossing the finish line two seconds up in a time of 15:49 and taking the first-place prize of $10,000.
