Hometown Health Centers, Schenectady School District Partner to Open County's First School-Based Health Centers

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (Nov. 30, 2016) — Hometown Health Centers (HHC) is now offering thousands of Schenectady middle and high school students a convenient healthcare option. The county’s only not-for-profit, federally qualified health center, has partnered with the Schenectady City School District to open the county’s first school-based health centers (SBHC).

Registration Open for 100th Anniversary Edition of Troy Turkey Trot

TROY, N.Y. (November 2, 2016) — A festive atmosphere will fill the air Thanksgiving morning when the Troy Turkey Trot, presented by Pioneer Bank, takes place in the historic hometown of Uncle Sam.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the nation’s 12th oldest road race, which was founded in 1916 as a remembrance run for veterans. The event is also being held during the City of Troy’s Bicentennial Celebration, which commemorates 200 years of Collar City history since the city’s official incorporation on April 12, 1816.

ACPHS Begins $1.65M Active Learning Classroom Renovation Project at 84 Holland Ave.

ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2016) — With high technology and small class sizes recognized as integral to developing students' critical thinking, problem solving, communication and clinical practice skills, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) today launched a $1.65 million project to transform 5,850-square-feet of unused space at 84 Holland Ave. into state-of-the-art active learning classrooms.
